Saturday was the main event! We were going to the Holiday concert put on by the US Army Band, woohoo!!! We got to DC around 4:30 p.m. found a parking spot and then walked over to the National Christmas tree. Nanny and Momma got the obligatory "pic in front of the white house" done and then we looked at all the trees, and got to see the lights come on. It was nice, nothing spectacular, but nice. We had 5:30 reservations at the Old Ebbit Grill so we trucked it over there. Arthur and I love this place, for both the food and atmosphere. We had a great meal....
Oh, I almost forgot! We opened presents Sat. morning! Lyam got the drag strip shake-n-go cars he has been wanting from my mom and the V-Smile Cyber pocket from my Nanny. We brought it along (I carried it in my purse) and BOY did it come in handy :) We had to wait for about 15 minutes b/c we were early and Tristan was getting restless having to stay in one spot, so out came the video game, and he sat on the floor and played it until our table was ready..... SWEEEEEET!
We also let him play it for a little while we waited for our food, it was great. We always try to keep him busy whenever we wait for stuff, but there is only so much that interests an active 4 yr. old boy! This game thing is perfect. We talk to him for a bit, get everything ordered, he colors for a minute, then we allow him to have the game and he plays while we adults can FINALLY have a conversation ;)
Anywho, after dinner we headed back past the National Tree and over to the DAR Constitution Hall. We got there at 7 (started at 8) so we got some great seats, right up front. Tristan played his game again while we waited, and then the concert started. It was REALLY good! I LOVED it! The band/orchestra was just awesome!! The opera lady was...well...she was good...but she should just stick with operas...lets just say that. And she really needed to eat something! She was skeleton skinny and you could tell how unhealthy she was by the look of her hair....please, someone feed that girl something!! Also, one of the soloists from the band goes to our church!! We were like, "hmmmm... she looks familiar..." and that's why, she goes to our church, and is in the choir. Small world, huh?
When it was over we walked back to the car, but stopped at the WW2 memorial on the way. It is SO pretty at night!! All the memorials are, just BEAUTIFUL!!
And that was it! Great evening!!
