No shopping malls for us this year!!Instead, we went to a tree farm and got our Christmas Tree!! The in-laws came down for the event and we ate (you guessed it) LEFTOVERS for lunch ;) Arthur picked this tree out first thing, but I wanted to look around, so we did...BUT we ended up getting this one, cause it was awesome! It's a Fraser Fir in case you're wondering :)
After we got the tree, we brought it home and set it up and began putting the lights on... of course, only 1 or 2 strands worked....so we had to wait to buy more lights in order to finish the tree. We didn't have much time anyways b/c we had to leave shortly there after to go to the new National Harbor in DC for the 1st annual tree lighting ceremony, complete with fireworks!! It was really fun and the National Harbor is just AWESOME!! If you ever visit DC, you must go!
The Gaylord Convention center is HUGE and was totally awesome. They even made it snow inside the atrium, but we didn't stay for that...we were tired and ready to go by that time....Anyways, we finally got the tree done. We decided on just white lights this year, half of them twinkle, which is a nice effect...
This bottom picture was taken with the house lights on, and the top one was taken pretty much in the dark... you can even see our icicle lights out on the balcony :)
Oh, I put those cinnamon scented pine cones on the tree this year.... I think it's neat looking and it makes the tree smell EVEN better :) I just tied brown yarn on them in order to hang them on the tree...just throwing that idea out there in case you guys wanna try it :)
